University of Pittsburgh Law Review

For Authors

Submit Manuscript

The University of Pittsburgh Law Review considers unsolicited manuscripts for publication, beginning each Spring and continuing until publication slots are filled.

Manuscripts must adhere to the following requirements:

  • Typed and submitted in either Microsoft Word or PDF format
  • Citations in footnotes, not endnotes, should conform to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (21st ed. 2020).
  • Maximum word count of 30,000 words
  • Inclusion of the author’s current resume or curriculum vitae

For shorter works:

  • Maximum word count of 15,000 words
  • We welcome reflections, essays, responses, comments, or any non-traditional pieces

Manuscripts selected by the Law Review undergo multiple rounds of review for grammar and spelling, Bluebook compliance for citations, and proposition checks. The Law Review follows The Bluebook for citation form and the Chicago Manual of Style for stylistic matters not addressed by The Bluebook. Any suggestions made by Law Review during the review process will be presented to the authors for approval before the article is deemed ready for publication.
